How to Choose Shipping from China to Thailand
Compare courier, air, sea and road options using shipment size, urgency, total charges and clearance responsibilities.

Compare the shipment you actually have
The best mode depends on dimensions, weight, value, urgency, product restrictions and destination. Courier may suit small samples; air can suit urgent or high-value orders; sea can suit larger shipments; road may be an option where a provider offers an appropriate route. Availability and economics vary by shipment.
For sea freight, compare less-than-container-load and full-container options where relevant. A low headline freight charge may exclude origin or destination handling. Consolidation also introduces handling and schedule considerations.
Give providers the same information
Send pickup and delivery locations, cargo-ready date, product description, carton count, dimensions, gross weight, value, packaging and any relevant battery, liquid or other special characteristics. Ask what supporting information they need to determine acceptance. Do not assume a product is ordinary cargo based on appearance.
Providers may calculate chargeable weight using volume as well as physical weight. Ask for the basis used in your specific quotation and compare the resulting billable quantity.
Request an itemized quote
Ask the provider to break out each component so you can compare offers honestly:
- Pickup and origin charges.
- Main transport and surcharge basis.
- Destination handling and brokerage scope.
- Duty/tax inclusion or exclusion.
- Delivery location and unloading arrangements.
- Insurance availability, coverage and exclusions.
- Quote validity, estimated timing and potential additional charges.
Distinguish transit from delivery
Ask whether a timing estimate covers main transit only or pickup through final delivery. Production completion, consolidation, customs checks and local delivery can all affect the calendar. Plan buffer time for the first shipment and avoid committing to a customer launch date based only on a carrier’s transit estimate.
